“Yuzhnyy Dvizh” (Southern Drive): Arkany, Crocodile Spears, Donera, Gabarit at Diesel Hall, Voronezh

Voronezh’s Diesel Hall on April 30 became a gathering point for all fans of punk rock, metal, and simply good music and a bright show.

The evening was opened by the Novovoronezh band “Arkany”. They presented their new vocalist and a new track recorded on the label. Their music is metal with elements of progressive, ambient, and ethnic, and that night it sounded especially fresh.

They were followed by the Voronezh-based “Crocodile Spears”, a large collective with crazy tracks that burst in with energetic power. Then we were delighted by the band “Donera” from Saint Petersburg with a breathtaking female vocalist at the helm. “Donera” plays pop-heavy metal with swinging rhythms and a fiery female vocal framed by masculine grit. The band are laureates of KinRock 2023, participants of Harley® Days SPb and many other festivals. Their music makes you want to dance or at least nod your head in approval.

After them, their compatriots “Gabarit” took the stage with soul-piercing tracks. This is large-scale rock from the very heart of the Leningrad region. Behind the guys are triumphant tours across the Moscow region, the Southern tour, and hundreds of fiery performances. Their insane energy and honest drive leave no one indifferent, from tough bikers to sophisticated rock connoisseurs.

The evening was closed by the headliner “BEZ B” and the band “Roman Malov”. “BEZ B” are four rock heroes from Gatchina who believe in dreams and play soaring rock anthems. Over the years, they’ve shared the stage with SUM 41, Billy Talent, Simple Plan, and Zebrahead, shot satirical music videos, and recorded a lyrical album about love.

I was accompanying “Arkany” and stayed with them at the venue until it was time to leave, so unfortunately I didn’t catch the finale. That’s why I’m sharing a few shots from the first half of this fiery rock evening.
